This Applesauce Bread Recipe Makes: 2 large loaves or 3 medium loaves
Step 1: Gather the following ingredients.
- 3 1/2 cups Flour (I like to use Einkorn Four but regular flour works, too)
- 2 cups granulated sugar (I like to use 1 cup sugar + 1 cup of Coconut Sugar)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
- One cup raisins (optional)
- One cup nuts (optional)
- 2 Tablespoons Poppy Seeds (optional)
I like using Einkorn Flour, Avocado Oil and Coconut Sugar in this recipe for added goodness!
Step 2: Mix Well to combine dry ingredients.
Step 3: Add the following wet ingredients together
- 3/4 cup oil (I love using avocado oil)
- 4 eggs
- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 2 cups applesauce (homemade or prepared)
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and, mix the batter until it’s smooth with no lumps.
Step 4: Pour batter into oiled or greased bread pans
- For glass bread pans, bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
- For metal bread pans, bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until done.
To test for doneness of the bread insert a toothpick or knife into the center of each loaf. If the knife comes out clean, then the loaves have finished baking and are done.
When finished baking, take the loaves from the oven and set each loaf onto their sides for 10 minutes to cool. Run a blunt knife along the edge of pans to loosen each loaf. Turn out onto a cooling rack.
After cooling for 1/2 hour, slice and serve warm with butter
To Freeze: Wrap the warm loaves in a plastic wrap or parchment paper and place it in a plastic bag. Freeze to keep longer.
This recipe may be doubled. It is so nice to have extra loaves of Homemade Applesauce Bread on hand for an easy extra treat at breakfast or tea!
Enjoy the goodness of the spicy moistness of the bread served warm from the oven with butter.
This lifesaver recipe can be prepared in just a little over an hour and the best part is that it actually tastes best the next day! Thus, it can be the perfect holiday gift idea, too.
