Simply Get Organized: Tips That are Easy to Do!!
Each day brings new opportunities, so we need quick ways to stay organized and save time. Here are some ideas to help you get started.
Planning your day helps you know what to expect, but it’s also important to be ready for changes or problems.
Having a plan is always beneficial, and using tools like a planner can make it even better!

Simple Steps to Getting Organized
Not being organized can have its downsides, so I find it helpful to make lists.
Here are some quick tips to get organized. Remember, these are goals to aim for. Some days might not go as planned, but that shouldn’t stop us from trying!
It’s good to keep a mental note of your “to-do” list for the day. Writing it down is even better! The best option is to say the items out loud!
Things to consider doing right away:
- You can also use a day planner to organize your daily and weekly tasks.
- Make your list and read each item out loud. Don’t overthink it; just do it!
- Speaking your goals helps you remember them better.
- Start by thinking about what you want to achieve today, write it down, and then read your list out loud!
- Say something like, “I want to…” and list all the things you hope to accomplish today.
- Consider what to include on your list. Here are some ideas that I think about daily, but be sure to create your own list!
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas (being frugal, I look in the refrigerator, pantry, & freezer and use what I have on hand)
- A quick survey of household cleaning activities (do small everyday items and then (1) bigger cleaning project each day)
- Double-check all appointments (doctor, dentist, meetings, service appointments, vehicle maintenance, etc.).
- Review lawn and garden chores (such as picking & freezing peas, pulling weeds, watering the greenhouse, moving sprinklers, mowing & weed-eating the yard, etc.).
- Check all emails and respond accordingly.
- Check all phone messages.
- Order groceries online (keep a running list of needed items for online items). I wait until I have enough to earn free shipping on all purchases.
- Make a list of phone calls and do all your callbacks in a timely manner.
- Keep a running tab of an item that needs to be purchased either at a local hardware store, thrift store, grocery store, market, or online.
- Make a conscious effort to do something for yourself: read a few pages in your book or magazine, pick a bouquet of flowers, eat strawberries, set aside time to pray, or call a friend…
Additional Ideas…
- Look up something at the library, in a book, a magazine, or online.
- Learn to identify wildflowers, find the best nutritional supplements, bake a chocolate cake from scratch, or try a new cookie recipe.
- You might also start a handcrafted gift or project, make your own herbal essential oil blends, create a new salad dressing, or memorize some poetry.
- Finally, sleep well knowing that you have accomplished a lot in one day…
- Oh, and remember to celebrate the simple things in life. ♥

In a Nutshell….
Using a day planner can help you organize your daily and weekly tasks. Writing down your goals for the day and reading them out loud will help you remember them better. Remember to include different activities like meal planning, cleaning, appointments, gardening, and replying to emails.
Also, make sure to keep an ongoing grocery list handy as you think of items you need…this will save time!
And, finally, always try to set aside time for self-care activities like reading, enjoying nature, or spending time with friends to improve your well-being.
