Healthy Chocolate Cake is a favorite cake for so many people! This cake is made with only one cup of sugar so it is a Low Sugar Dessert.
It was never even questioned that everyone in our family has wanted this heirloom One Cup Sugar Chocolate Cake for their birthday.

One Cup Sugar Chocolate Cake
I have made countless birthday cakes from this easy recipe and it really only has one cup of sugar.…..unless, of course, if you add some very delicious chocolate frosting…..the sugar content goes up!!!
Low sugar desserts are perfect to add to a healthy diet! This is one cake that most everyone will enjoy!
But, nonetheless, the cake recipe is easy to make and fairly healthy!!! I try to use all organic ingredients + Einkorn Flour but you can use any type of unbleached flour and hopefully it will come out just great.
I always bake this in a Bundt Pan from Amazon since it makes for a nice birthday cake. If you use an oblong cake pan from Amazon.com, then please adjust your baking time.

Quick Note:
Einkorn flour is made from Einkorn Wheat. This particular wheat has NEVER been hybridized and has remained in its original state.
It has less gluten which has shown to be easier for gluten sensitivities. Do your own research but I think you will find this to be of interest for the nutritional value that Einkorn Wheat Flour offers the modern baker!!

This has been a Family Favorite for Decades!!!!
First of all, gather your ingredients: I have included links to Amazon!!
- 1 3/4 cups Unbleached Flour (I use Einkorn Flour)
- 1 cup Organic Cane Sugar
- 5 tablespoons Organic Cocoa Powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
- One teaspoon Pink Himalayan Salt
- 3 Farm Fresh Eggs
- 1 Cup Organic Milk
- 1/2 cup Avocado Oil
- 1 cup Boiling Water
Next, combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add the next 3 ingredients (eggs, milk and avocado oil) but do not add the boiling water. Save the water for a bit later.
Mix on low for 1 minute and then beat on medium-high or 4 minutes. Make sure beat on medium-high for a least the 4 minutes to have the fluffiest homemade cake ever!!!
- Add the one cup boiling water and mix on low until combined.
- Pour batter into oiled Bundt pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
- Test to see if it is done by inserting a knife or toothpick into cake. If it comes out clean, then the cake is finished.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack before removing from pan. Loosen cake completely from Bundt pan by carefully running a kitchen knife around all edges of pan. Turn cake on to a serving platter or cake plate. Let cool completely prior to frosting.

Please Note: this one cup sugar chocolate cake recipe will completely bake to the top of your Bundt Pan.
This cake cannot get any higher as it actually will be to the tip top of the pan. Such a high rising cake recipe from scratch!!! Deliciously moist and fluffy but not crumbly.

Melt 1/2 stick of unsalted organic butter.
Slowly add 1/2 cup Organic Cocoa Powder and 2 1/2 to 3 cups of Organic Powdered Sugar*. Mix until smooth and silky.
Make sure to continue mixing until the frosting is no longer grainy looking.
It will become very smooth. If it seems a bit grainy looking, at 1 teaspoon of milk at a time. Do not add too much milk as you will need to increase the powdered sugar.
This frosting tastes like rich fudge!!!! It should be very easy to spread just make sure your cake is completely cool of the frosting might melt a bit.
Decorate, if desired!!! with natural gluten free, non GMO cake sprinkles!!!
*If you have never used Organic Powdered Sugar, then you are in for a wonderful surprise!!! Organic Powered Sugar is absolutely delicious with a natural buttery taste.
