Family Summer Drink Recipes
1. Classic Lemonade
No matter how many summers pass by, lemonades are always on-trend.
There are lots of interesting blends out there that recreate this “citrusy” drink. Yet, we still cling to a traditional take on this summer classic.
This is how we make ours:
Ingredients
- 12 freshly cut lemons
- 6 cups of water
- ½ cup of sugar (or according to taste)
- Half a pitcher of ice
- 3-5 thinly cut lemon slices
Method
- Squeeze the lemonade in a medium-sized bowl or jug.
- Take a large pitcher and add 1 cup of water, ½ cup sugar, and the lemon juice. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves.
- Pour 5 more cups of water. Stir well.
- Add in the ice and lemon slices.
- Pour and drink.
Yum! This classic lemonade recipe will take you down memory lane. A time where lemonade stands popped up in the neighborhood whenever summer began.
2. Watermelon Slush
Juicy, refreshing, and lip-smacking good―this slush is a welcome change on a hot day.
It’s also a great way to appease the kids when they beg for a slushy. It’s free from additives, artificial flavors or food coloring.
I can bet that you’ll enjoy it as much as we do!
Ingredients
- 4-5 cups of diced watermelon (seedless)
- 2 tbsp of sugar
- 1 cup of ice.
- A splash of lime juice (optional)
Method
- Chuck in all the ingredients in a blender.
- Pulse blender until the drink reaches a thick slushy consistency.
- Serve it right away.
Pro tip: I prefer to dice and freeze some watermelon beforehand.
3. Pina Colada
Ah! Pina Coladas are the personification of a perfect summer holiday. The sweet and tangy taste is enough to refresh you.
Of course, the kick of rum helps amp our energy. However, when we’re with family, I usually opt for a virgin pina colada.
I promise you that this non-alcoholic rendition tastes just as good!
Ingredients
- 1 cup of freshly chopped pineapple
- 1/2 cup of ice
- 1 cup of coconut milk
- 1 cup of pineapple juice
- 2-3 tbsp of brown sugar
- Freshly cut pineapple wedges (to garnish)
Method
- First, add the ice and chopped pineapple slices in a blender.
- Then pour in the pineapple juice and coconut milk. Add your spoonful of brown sugar and start blending the mixture.
- Puree it until it reaches a nice consistency.
- Then pour it in tall glasses and garnish it with a pineapple wedge.
