Freezing Blueberries the Easy Way | In One Step
Freezing blueberries is a breeze! Just leave them in their original container, without rinsing or washing, and put them in the freezer.
EASY TO FREEZE BLUEBERRIES
Keep the plastic cover on the container or use the “clam-shell” package. Don’t wash the blueberries; this helps them freeze individually, which is important!
You can also use glass canning jars if you prefer not to use plastic. If you picked the berries fresh, freeze them on a cookie sheet first so they freeze separately. Then, transfer them to the jars once they are frozen.
Freezing the berries unwashed makes them easier to handle later. Since they freeze individually, you can take just a few for a smoothie or a handful for muffins.
THE SECRET TO FREEZING BLUEBERRIES:

Tip on How to Freeze Fresh Blueberries: Freeze fresh blueberries when they are dry. Rinse them just before you use them.
IDEA FOR USING FROZEN BLUEBERRIES: a blueberry syrup
How to Use Frozen Blueberries: To use frozen blueberries, take one cup, rinse them under water, and put them in a small saucepan.
Next, add 1/4 cup plain water and 1/4 cup organic cane sugar. Simmer on low heat until bubbly.
This is a simple homemade version of blueberry syrup made fresh to order. It is wonderful spooned over French toast, oatmeal, waffles, pancakes, or yogurt.
You can add raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries to the mix.
Just remember to adjust your other ingredients to the number of berries being used.

More Ways to Use Frozen Blueberries:
Frozen blueberries are very useful! When you want to make blueberry coffeecake or muffins, take out the amount you need. Put them in a colander and rinse them quickly with cold water.
Because they are frozen, the blueberries will have a thin layer of ice. This helps you mix them into your batter without thawing them. This way, your batter won’t turn bluish-gray, and the blueberries will keep their shape.
Just remember, thawed blueberries can get mushy. So, fold them into your batter quickly while they are still frozen! And then bake your muffins right away!

GROWING BLUEBERRIES:
My favorite gardening cookbook by Barbara Damrosch & Eliot Coleman is entitled The Four Season Farm Gardener’s Cookbook.
This book has wonderful information on growing and using blueberries as well as a multitude of gardening information.
We have never been able to grow blueberries where we live due to the elevation and short growing season. But if you live in a USDA zone that is appropriate for growing blueberries, then consider planting several bushes in your container garden or on your patio!

Helpful Tip: FROZEN BLUEBERRIES
Frozen blueberries are a tasty and healthy addition to cold drinks! They not only add flavor but also add a fun and festive color to your drinks! Just add a few frozen berries to your glass, and enjoy as they release their sweet juice.
Next time you make a refreshing drink, skip the ice and use frozen blueberries instead. You’ll love the look and the extra flavor!

Final Thoughts
In conclusion, blueberries are tasty and brighten up your meals.
Freezing blueberries is easy! Having them available all year adds a fresh flavor to your baking.
They also provide healthy antioxidants for free!
So, enjoy and eat more blueberries!
